One premise of art is that it stimulate our curiosity to discover. Often in a voyeuristic sense, this desire to see some of the world of the ‘other’ , means we are constantly trying to look ‘in the window’ as it were, to glimpse some other reality. It is that longing which materialises in these paintings. Desire is not quenched but rather fuelled here in keeping with the liminal quality of desire, we are placed on a threshold.

Beyond the veil is the unknown state. Liminality signals the end of one thing and the beginning of something unknown. Limininality in its purest form appears to welcome us into exciting new ways of seeing and perceiving. This is the place we are dealing with here, a place which is unnameable; therefore a place at the forefront of postmodern knowledge. For it is the inability to name which means we are speaking of desire.
