“I was particularly pleased to know from a patient, who was recovering from surgery, that the exhibition, which was near to his ward, had provided a resource of solace, pleasure and interest to him during his stay.
Feedback from those who did attend the artist talk was very positive. People felt genuinely enriched by Monair sharing with them her own process of creativity.
I hope to be allowed to exhibit Monair’s work again in the future.”

Colour, composition and materials have combined to produce, to my eye, an extremely pleasing visual experience. The varying moods are clearly captured by use of the above. Thank you!

CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE SPIRIT, AN EXHIBITION & SUPPORTING WORKSHOP BY MONAIR HYMAN AT DEAN CLOUGH
The exhibition was favourably received by the Dean Clough Community, and a significant proportion of 3000 people for whom Dean Clough is there workplace would have seen the show, to say nothing of the general public of which we have approximately 30/50 visitors a day who visit specifically to view works on show in the gallery. The exhibition also received a very positive review in the Yorkshire Post.
Workshop participants produced an amazing quantity of work of amazingly high quality. Participants had really appreciated having the opportunity for contact with Monair, whom they found extremely approachable and helpful. Monair carried out the workshop in a very professional manner and I am pleased to say that I can still see the results of the experience of the workshop in the work of Barbara Sykes, one of the Dean Clough artists who attended and who continues to use the medium of monoprint in her work.
Overall, the experience of working with Monair from the preparation and planning stages to the actual workshop was a very positive and impressive one.
